About the Author
Frances Holme grew up in the shadow of Kinder Scout and has spent most of her life within walking distance of it. She knows the plateau in all weathers and at all hours, which is, she says, the only qualification that matters for writing about it.
She came to crime fiction late, after a career that took her through teaching, local government, and a long stint as a volunteer with Edale Mountain Rescue Team. It was the rescue work that gave her Frank Meredith — not the cases, she is careful to say, but the particular patience of people who go out in bad weather for strangers and are never paid for it.
She lives in the High Peak with two dogs, a large collection of Ordnance Survey maps, and an ongoing argument with her woodburner.
The Kinder Falls is her first novel.
